PULSE 1999

2 channel video installation in JVC Video store. Sofia Bulgaria

Collaboration with Bulgarian artist Boyan Dobrev.

6 minutes of Dziga Vertov's 1929 Man With a Movie Camera were reshot in Sofia to create a visual essay where information age images of wiring and construction mingle with retro sounds of music boxes and industrial noise. Recreation of the performative aspect, the man with the movie camera, was shot in New York using an oversized cardboard camera and superimposed onto footage shot in Bulgaria suggesting the subjective nature of documentary footage. 1 monitor contains this edited footage, the second is a live feed from the street on which much of the footage was shot.
