WALK THIS WAY   2001

An e-directed video about the transitory nature of place done in collaboration with teenagers in Middlesbrough Uk .A 9-minute loop was projected from the rear of a truck at market Square North Ormsby, a site where there is an active market once a week, a magnificent church and some dilapidated flats that are the center of controversy. Teenagers involved local

community members in a discussion about their environment. They researched the past and collected images and impressions of the present. Through a director's forum at thelongrope.com, a website set up for this project, images and sound were uploaded in the UK,sequenced through a discussion on the site, downloaded and edited in New York. Footage of the industrial landscape that I shot on a research visit was layered with images collected by the teenagers.
